Private Land Conservation Matters celebrates one year of education and partnership

One year on from launching the Private Land Conservation Matters program with Landcare NSW, we’ve seen more than 1400 conservation-minded landholders come together at 46 events across the state.

The program supports landholders to learn, carry out and extend the use of best practice in private land conservation.

Often held on NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust private conservation agreement sites, the PLC Matters program provides access to experts in conservation management and group learning. The networking opportunities also provide landholders with peer learning and connections.

Team Leader Education Program, Alice McGrath, said Landcare NSW's proven track record in community engagement and capacity building was highly valued by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust and is a significant value-add to the program.

“We hope those who attend our events enjoy the opportunity to network with other conservation-minded landholders and build their capacity to manage for biodiversity,” she said.

“The program supports prospective and existing conservation managers to build their capacity to manage biodiversity in NSW. Improved knowledge and skills will result in better managed private land conservation areas.”

Events have been held across the state and have included field day and workshop topics including Fire for Conservation, Fungi Discovery, Birds and Biodiversity on Farms, and Managing Healthy Dams.

More events will be held throughout the year. To find a PLC Matters event near you go to our events page.
