Private Land Conservation showcase at Global Nature Positive Summit

Private Land Conservation joins the biodiversity buzz coming to Sydney this month with the Commonwealth Government's Global Nature Positive Summit on over three days from Tuesday, 8 to 10 October, followed by the Australian Land Conservation Alliance (ALCA) PLC24 conference wrapping the week up on Thursday and Friday 10 and 11 October.

We're excited to put the case for nature forward and showcase the success of conservation agreement-holders in protecting, connecting and restoring biodiversity on private land.

Joining across the four days of events will be our Board chair, The Hon. Niall Blair and Board member Fiona Simson, who step into the hosting chair at the Global Nature Positive Summit on Tuesday, 8 October to discuss the role of landholders in protecting, connecting and restoring privately-held land.

It's going to be a conversation offering real live examples of what's happening on private land conservation sites, and how they contribute to state, national and global nature goals.

Jamie Woods, of Nari Nari Tribal Council, will offer the perspective of protecting Aboriginal-owned and managed land with a NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust agreement.

Will Hooke, of Willera Merinos, will tell of his family's efforts across two conservation areas, one of them protecting endangered plains wanderers in the state's southwest.

And we welcome Accounting for Nature's Dr Amanda Hansson to share the rigour and standards of how private landholder's conservation efforts can be measured and valued.

Later in the week, we'll be inviting delegates to see that work in action with a visit to a conservation area managed with the support of our team's local conservation management expertise.

Here delegates will be able to speak to the landholder, see the biodiversity results for themselves and appreciate the extraordinary role private land conservation plays in driving ecological outcomes.

Following these two opportunities at the Global Nature Positive Summit, we continue the conservation conversation with delegates to the ALCA PLC24 conference.

Our Manager Agreements and Technical Services, Dr Andrew Growcock, will share how data is in informing value for money investment.

Our Manager Private Land Conservation Programs, Cath Gallery, will share our experience of a recent conservation tender pilot that's matched the ambitions of landholding customers with market opportunities.

One of our six regional managers, Leith Hawkins, will tell how his team supports landowners to steward their land for conservation.

And, as this year's conference partner, our CEO Erin Giuliani will lead a discussion of sector experts including Leah Armstrong, of the International Funders for Indigenous People; Founder of Landscape Finance Lab Paul Chatterton; and, NAB's Director Sustainable Lending James Bentley.

We look forward to meeting with Indigenous leaders, our climate and environment colleagues, as well as corporate sector, non-government and government peers across the two events, and if you'd like to meet with us during the summit, visit www.bct.nsw.gov.au/partner
