Eligibility

To submit an expression of interest you must be:

  • an Owner of the land, as defined by the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (NSW); and,
  • an Australian citizen, registered for tax purposes in Australia and holding an Australian bank account, or an Australian registered company, registered for tax purposes in Australia, registered for GST and holding an Australian bank account; and,
  • a fit and proper person to enter into an in-perpetuity conservation agreement with the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust.

Eligible conservation sites are those:

  • a minimum 50ha of native vegetation, or,
  • a minimum 20ha of a Threatened Ecological Community*, or,
  • contain an important wetland*

* You do not need to know if you manage Threatened Ecological Community or important wetlands to submit an expression of interest. Our field staff and ecologists will assess your proposed conservation area.

Timeline and process

A landholder can express interest in a fixed price offer at any time, with expressions of interest assessed on an annual basis.

The current batch closes to expressions of interest on 1 March 2025.

  1. After you submit an expression of interest in a fixed price offer with the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust, the proposed conservation area will be assessed by our staff. If your proposed conservation area is prioritised by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust for a site assessment, you will be contacted to arrange this assessment.
  2. Following site assessment, you will be provided with a draft conservation management plan to apply for a fixed price offer.
  3. Landholders with conservation sites that offer the best value for money will be offered the opportunity to enter an in-perpetuity agreement.
  4. Landholders enter an agreement and receive annual conservation management payments once the agreement is registered on the land’s title. Payments are at a fixed price ($/hectare/year).
