The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust has welcomed four new Board members to support private land conservation and drive important biodiversity goals for the state.

NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) Board Chair Hon. Niall Blair said the appointments reflected the BCT’s ambitions to expand private land conservation through industry leading best-practice, innovation and partnerships.

With growing demands on, and from within, the primary industries sector to implement sustainable production processes and land management techniques, the NSW Government has responded to calls to reverse environmental decline with a number of voluntary programs running under the NSW Natural Capital Program.

The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust has reached a deal with Bush Heritage Australia and South Endeavour Trust to permanently protect 31,266 hectares of private land at Naree and Yantabulla Stations. 

The BCT is launching a new conservation tender in 2022, which will focus on koala habitat in the Northern Inland region. The tender will be funded through support from the new NSW Koala Strategy. 

It's not just the Southern Highlands' important koala population that is thrilled about the recent signed conservation agreement for a unique property near Mittagong. The BCT, and the five families of land owners, are also thrilled for their history and their future.

The outcomes of the Plains-wanderer, Snow Gum Woodlands and Grasslands, and Northern Inland Floodplains conservation tenders have been announced today by Environment Minister Matt Kean. 

Over 50,000 hectares of important habitat for native species on private land will be protected as a result of these three successful conservation tenders.
